Ngapeke Permaculture is a Trust project that is involves locals and whanau to realise the full potential of the block and its surroundings including the community around it. It is creating a way of life that works with the environment and not against it.
The Permaculture Project started in 2019 with the area adjacent to Kaiwha Road which had previously been in maze. A teaching garden was established around the utility shed and was used to run the Kai Oranga course in partnership with Te Whare Wananga o Awanuiarangi. Fast forward to 2022 the Permaculture Project has extended it’s reach in terms of converting the whenua from monoculture crops to a food forest and the number of whanau who are now participating in the activities on the whenua is rapidly increasing too.
